Overview

Every student, faculty, and staff have access to Microsoft Office applications such as OneDrive. OneDrive is a cloud-based storage where you can store your documents, pictures, videos, and more. You can access your OneDrive account from your computer by signing into the OneDrive application with your Starid and password. You can also access OneDrive from your web-based email, by clicking on the App Launcher at the upper left corner of your page and selecting OneDrive. With OneDrive, you can synchronize files between your computer and the cloud, so you can get to your files from anywhere - your computer, your mobile device.

Why Use OneDrive?

  • You can share and collaborate with others and access these files from any device using Office 365.
  • You can share documents by adding collaborators or by sharing a link to the document.
  • You can collaboratively work on online documents in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and more.

Access OneDrive Using a Web Browser

Follow these steps to access OneDrive online:

  1. Go to the SMSU Email login page.
  2. Sign in using one of the following:
    • Faculty and Staff: StarID@minnstate.edu
    • Students: StarID@go.minnstate.edu
  3. Once logged in, open the App Launcher (the grid icon near the top of the page).
  4. Select More apps, then choose OneDrive.

Upload and Save Files or Folders to OneDrive

To upload files or folders to OneDrive:

  1. Sign in to your SMSU email account.
  2. Open the App Launcher and select OneDrive.
  3. Select Add new.
  4. Choose Files upload or Folder upload.
  5. Select the file or folder from your device.
  6. Select Open or Upload to begin the upload.

Your files will be available once the upload is complete.

Department File Sharing (T‑Drive)

In addition to OneDrive, you may request access to the T‑Drive, which is used for:

  • Sharing files within a department
  • Collaborating with members of a project team
