Microsoft 365 Apps for Students

For more information on how to access and download Microsoft apps like Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.

Overview

Microsoft 365 Apps is available for students to download (Includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Students will be able to install Microsoft 365 Apps on up to five personally-owned PC or Macintosh computer systems. Microsoft 365 Apps is supported by iOS and Android platforms.

Instructions to Install Microsoft 365 Apps on your PC & MAC.

1. Login to your SMSU Email: https://www.smsu.edu/email/index.html   
2. Login using your StarID@go.minnstate.edu
3. Click on Install and more near the top right side of the page
   
    
4. Click on Install Microsoft 365 apps
5. Click on Install Office 
   
6. Follow instructions (depending on your computer specifications and web browser) to download and install Office. After the download is complete, please run the .exe file or downloaded file for MAC if it does not automatically start.
7. Once Office 365 is installed you will find the programs among the other programs on your computer.
8. ACTIVATION - The first time you start an Office app, choose to log in - and use the format StarID@go.minnstate.edu and StarID password. This will activate the software and enable full Office functionality and software updates
