Overview
Microsoft Personal Bookings allows individuals (faculty, staff, advisors, tutors, etc.) to publish their availability so others can self schedule time with them, eliminating back and forth emails. It is ideal for one person scheduling, such as office hours, advising, or consultations.
1. What Is a Personal Bookings Page?
A Personal Bookings page allows you to:
- Share your availability with students, colleagues, or external attendees.
- Receive appointments that automatically appear on your Outlook calendar.
- Create and manage your own appointment types (for example, 30-minute advising sessions).
- Offer online meetings via Teams, with automatically generated meeting links.
This option is intended for individual use rather than team scheduling.
2. Accessing Personal Bookings
- Sign in at: https://www.smsu.edu/email/index.html
- Select Apps, then All Apps.
- Open the Bookings app.
3. Setting Up Your Personal Booking Page
Step 1 – Define Your Availability
Under Personal booking page, create a meeting type:
- Choose your available hours.
- Set meeting durations.
- Add buffer time if needed.
These settings help prevent scheduling conflicts and avoid back-to-back appointments.
Step 2 – Create Your Meeting Types
Common examples include:
- Office Hours
- Advising Session
- Consultation
- Tutoring Appointment
Each meeting type can include:
- Duration
- Location (Teams or in person)
- Optional custom questions for attendees
Meeting types help you organize and manage your scheduling effectively.
Step 3 – Publish Your Personal Booking Page
- Select Publish.
- Copy your personal booking link.
- Share it through:
- Email signatures
- D2L Brightspace course pages
- Department websites
Attendees will only see the availability you choose to share, not your full Outlook calendar.
4. Managing Appointments
You can:
- View and manage appointments in the Bookings app or Outlook
- Reschedule or cancel appointments
- Send updates or confirmations, automatically handled by Bookings
