My SMSU is Southwest Minnesota State University's campus engagement platform powered by Ready Education. My SMSU brings together students, faculty, staff, departments, organizations, resources, events, and communications in one centralized location.
With My SMSU, you can:
- Connect with campus organizations and departments
- Discover events and activities
- Access campus resources and services
- Communicate with students, faculty, and staff
- Receive important announcements and notifications
- Access links to university systems and resources
My SMSU is available on both mobile devices and web browsers.
Who Can Use My SMSU?
My SMSU is available to:
Accessing My SMSU
Mobile App
- Download My SMSU from:
- Open the app.
- Select My SMSU.
- Sign in using your SMSU credentials.
Web Browser
- Open a web browser.
- Navigate to the My SMSU portal:
- Select Sign In.
- Log in using your SMSU credentials.

Students:
Username: StarID@go.minnstate.edu
Password: Your StarID password
Faculty and Staff:
Username: StarID@minnstate.edu
Password: Your StarID password
Complete Your Profile
After signing in for the first time:
- Complete Onboarding
- Review your profile information.
- Upload a profile photo if desired.
- Verify your contact information.
- Update your profile details as needed.
Keeping your profile current helps others find and connect with you.
Find Campus Resources
My SMSU provides quick access to:
- Student support services
- Academic resources
- Campus departments
- Student organizations
- Forms and important links
- Campus announcements
Use the search and directory features to locate people, resources, and services.
Join Groups and Organizations
Groups are the primary way students, faculty, staff, departments, and organizations connect in My SMSU.
You can:
- Browse groups and organizations
- Join public groups
- Request membership in restricted groups
- Follow departments and campus offices
- Receive updates and announcements
Events and Activities
Use My SMSU to:
- Discover campus events
- RSVP for activities
- View event details
- Receive event reminders
- Track upcoming opportunities
Many campus departments and organizations use My SMSU to promote events and communicate with participants.
Communication and Notifications
My SMSU allows you to:
- Receive campus announcements
- Communicate with group members
- Stay informed about events and activities
- Receive notifications from departments and organizations you follow
To avoid missing important updates, keep your notification settings enabled.
Acceptable Use
Users are expected to engage respectfully and follow SMSU policies when using My SMSU.
Do not post content that:
- Violates university policies
- Harasses or threatens others
- Is discriminatory or inappropriate
- Contains spam or misleading information
Users can report inappropriate content directly within the platform. Reported content may be reviewed by authorized university administrators.
