Overview
The Event Credential Request service allows event organizers to request temporary Wi‑Fi access for attendees at events held at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU).
If your event requires internet access for guests, you may request an event‑specific passphrase for the SMSU‑MyWiFi network. This helps provide secure and reliable wireless access during your event.
When to Use This Service
Use this service if you are:
- Hosting an on‑campus event
- Expecting guests who need Wi‑Fi access
- Providing temporary network access for attendees, presenters, or vendors
This service is intended for short‑term, event‑based access only.
What to Include in Your Request
To help ensure timely setup, please provide the following information:
- Event name
- Date and time of the event
- Event location (building and room, if applicable)
- Estimated number of attendees
- Any specific requirements or additional details related to network access
Providing complete information helps the network team configure access appropriately for your event.
Technical Support During Events
If you or your attendees experience issues connecting to the network during the event, the Technology Resource Center (TRC) is available to assist.
The TRC can help with:
- Connecting to the SMSU‑MyWiFi network
- Troubleshooting access or connectivity issues
- Addressing general network questions during the event
